Undead Wonderland

Skills Used: Logistical Programming Skills, Assembly, C

Undead Wonderland was a project I built over the course of a week in June of 2026. The main purpose of the project was to make a downgraded game designed specifically for the Nintendo Gameboy/Gameboy Color. The Game is very simple, trapped in a run down amusement park, the charachter must fight through waves of zombies in order to gain money. Once all zombies on the level are defeated, the wave counter increases and the zombies respawn, both with more health and faster movement. This project was both very challenging, and also very fun. In order for the game to work properly, I had to make sure I stuck to strict guidlines on memory and logistical restraints. I also had to keep the images extremely simple. The Nintendo Gameboy can only render four green monotone colors at once, and as such, all art had to conform to said constraint.

In addition to the logistical programming and restraints associated with making a Gameboy game, this project gave me the chance to learn alot about basic machine code, and community support. I utilized a program called GB Studio. This simple but fun to learn program allows anyone to more easily make a Gameboy Game. Rather than just writing machine code, GB studio pairs machine code with a visual interface better suited to modern programming.
