Petfrence

Skills Used: JavaScript, REACT.JS, HTML, CSS, Jira, Agile Development Methodology

My capstone project in college was called Petfrence. This project was a part of a Software Development 2 class I was a part of. One of the students was to act as the client, and the other students were the developers. Our client’s idea was a website called Petfrence. The idea behind it was that pet adoption websites were too complicated for finding the exact right pet. Petfrence would take a variety of questions from a user, compile them all into a single database, and then use an algorithm I designed to recommend the perfect pet for the person looking to adopt. I mainly acted as the backend REACT developer for this project. Using REACT.js, I was responsible for developing the firestore database as well as the pet selection algorithm. My other classmate Benjamin Caron was responsible for extended javascript utilities. This included things such as buttons, movement between webpages and ensuring that certain images appeared based on my database information. My other classmate Ben Tacota was responsible for the front end.

In addition to gaining knowledge on REACT.js, I also learned a large amount about Jira, and how to collaborate effectively using it.
